Obituary of Paula Emanuel

Paula Birdsong Emanuel, age 47, died on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Paula was born in Atlanta, Georgia and had lived in Maryland prior to residing in Basking Ridge for 13 years. In 1979 Paula graduated from Frederick Douglass High School in Atlanta, GA. In 1984 she received a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Howard University. Then in 1995 she attended Johns Hopkins University and received her MS degree in Biomedical Engineering. Paula worked for Lucent Technologies in Murray Hill as an Engineer. She was a member of the Hun PTA, she also was an Atlanta sports fan, enjoying live baseball, internet shopping, the home shopping network, and entertaining family and friends in her home. Paula is survived by her husband, David Emanuel, her daughter, Jordan Emanuel; her parents, Carrie and Ritholiz Birdsong. There will be a visitation on Thursday, June 18th from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung. Marcus L. Leathers officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church.
