Dear Anne and Scott,
I was saddened to hear about your mother's passing and am keeping you in my prayers. She was a wonderful women, and I still remember her as I last saw her- a vibrant woman in her 40's who loved to entertain, laugh and help everyone have a good time. I remember visiting your family when we were kids, those Easter celebrations in Milwaukee. Remember "Mister Mudhead?" He was an old guy who introduced himself to us when we were sent to get candy from a nearby store. He had you, Susan and Mary yelling at the top of your lungs, "He's Mr. Mudhead!" That was per his request. Anyway, I've wondered about you both after all these years. I hear bits and pieces about your lives from Mom and Dad, but I still remember you as little kids in my mind. Let's keep in touch. Ann (Bevis) Malone

Dear Burrises,
Our families were friends long before you (Scott and Anne) and I (and my sisters) were born. I have such fond memories of all the Easters we spent together, all those years ago. Shirley was an amazing Woman. I will hold her memory dear, and send my condolences and love to you and your Dad.

Dear Cullen, Anne, Scott, and all,
How very sad you must all be without Shirley. She was one of those people who spent their entire lives trying to make others comfortable and happy.
She was a woman of many accomplishments and a hard days work was always welcomed. Ever an inspiration, and always a fun gal to be around.
Shirley earned her rest but the world just won't be as hospitable without her.

Shirley Burris has always been the woman I wanted to be when I grew up. Her style, wit, brains and beauty were beyond imagining. I loved her very much, and I cannot imagine the world without her. She and Cullen were the most interesting people I have ever known! I have wonderful memories of 4th of July and New Year's Day parties!

As the head of HSKPG at the Burris's last residence I got to know both quite well and loved them both very much. Mrs. Burris's passing is felt deeply by myself. my staff and the rest of our community. She was gracious, caring and extremely funny. In the many times that I got to talk with her, I always left with a deep feeling of friendship that I will always carry with me. My heart goes out to her family

Dear Anne and Cullen,
I was so sorry to hear of Shirley's passing, but so glad to have spoken to her a few weeks ago. She sounded just like her old, wonderful self. I met her when Gail Lynch had fallen and had me call Shirley and we just bonded immediately. I just loved to get together with Shirley and Cullen for a cocktail and then go to dinner. I missed having them so close but managed to see them in Albany quite a few times. I'll miss them.

I was so sorry to hear of Shirley's death. I volunteered with her at a weekly luncheon for persons with AIDS. She was a sweet, kind, and classy lady.
