To Roy Mangold and Ms. Mangold's family,
I was deeply saddened by the news of Ms. Mangold's passing. My sincere condolences for your loss. Ms. Mangold was my favorite teacher at RPHS and actually made English bearable for me. I must have learned something from Ms. Mangold because even though I only scored 420 on my English SATs and went on to college to earn a Math degree, I've been a published author of business management columns in several trade magazines for over 11 years. In my case, Ms. Mangold was a miracle worker and I owe her a great deal of thanks.
My fondest memory of Ms. Mangold was seeing her face on her wedding day when she finally reached the alter with Roy and looked up to see Tom Moskovich and I serving as her alter boys. Priceless.
She left us far too soon, but is now with Our Lord in Heaven.
I will keep you, her family, in my prayers and ask God to comfort you now and forever.
Peace,
Vince DiCecco

Wow so many great memories of Darlene.. She was always smiling and always so sweet. I used to watch Uncle Roy and Aunt Darlene together and say "that's how I want to be - everlasting love" I think the best times we had were at family weddings and parties. so many fond memories. Just learned of the untimely loss of an inspiring and lovely individual. I'll never forget the senior year at RPHS 1965 when my English teacher, Miss Darlene Donahue, a French Teacher, and a History teacher, were exciting the male students dressing in short skirts and tight dresses. They all looked like students themselves. May she look as good to the students in Heaven.

I was a student of her's the first year she taught. As president of the class of 1965 I worked with "Miss Donohue" in many ways. She was very alive, vivacious, a person with whom as a teenager you could share personal thoughts. She was really there for you in class, in theater etc.

Mrs. Mangold was more than a teacher she was an inspiration to not just myself but many of my classmates. I was in HS in RP in 1978, and was lucky enough to speak with her several years ago to thank her for her love, understanding and compassion. She gave me my love of Shakespear, and helped me through many difficult days. The world has lost a light, a guide for many children .... She will never be forgotten, and remain in my prayers and heart forever....I love you teacher.... And Thank you is just not enough.

Darlene was truly a beautiful person inside and out! She inspired so many Roselle Park High School students to reach their full potential throughout their high school years and beyond! This dedicated teacher and mentor will always have a special place in my heart, and I am sure in the hearts of many who were lucky enough to be one of her students during her devoted tenure at RPHS.
In appreciation,

Darlene did moy only trach me, she taught me about life. She was a teacher who cared to go beyone rules to help her students. She believed in me in a time when no one else did. She gave me hope, encouragment and caring in a time that was so crazy in a young woman's life. We remained friends throughout my life as an adult. She knew my children; I helped her thru her mother's death - she was there when my husband died; I am alive because she believed that not every child fit into the round holes we expect - we are all different and she helped those of us that were. I am a retired early childhood teacher. I did end of year shows that were like her plays, only with little kids. Aunt Darlene and Uncle Roy were always the best visitors for them. She taught me that I could do anything I dreamed I could if I believed in myself. And, she was proud of me when I made director of the year for my centers.
My dear, dear friend - you brought me to this place in my life and I know that the doors of heaven have opened wide to welcome you ... and may you find peace, rest and joy ... I will always have you with me - where you have always been, in my heeart. You aren't lost my friend - for I know where you are and one day, we will meet again.
With love from us all
Michele (Mickie), Michel, Allyson, Christian and Zoey Wood
