When I think of Al, the book Random Acts of Kindness comes readily to mind. Claire and Al bought my family home on King George Road around 1970. Some 12 years later, I happened on their doorstep, requesting to take some photos of my beloved childhood home. He graciously let me take videos throughout the house and grounds, and then went out of his way to find and send me some precious mementos my parents had left behind so many years before. We kept in touch and, when I was back in town many years later, Claire and Al invited me in to their home for an overnight stay. What lovely people. I will truly miss Al, and I hope that Claire and her son will know what a positive mark he made in his 83 years. My Sympathy to both of you.
