This is a shocking news to me. I had the opportunity to work with him when I interned at Motorola Labs 2 summers ago, where he was the director. Dr. Kintala, besides being a top-notch researcher in computer science, was also very kind and friendly person. Many a times we had lunch together during my stay and he has been sending New Year wishes every year since we met. I will miss him. My deepest condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace.

Later, my wife (Anasuya Bhushan) and I have been awed on hearing his great achievements, now halted by his sudden departure from our midst. May his soul rest in peace, and may his blessings shower on all of us.

I met Chandra and Bharati in L.A. in 1977 when I was visiting my brother there. What a wonderful man--thoughtful,very smart, great smile, very in love with his bride, and full of thoughts for the future. I saw him infrequently through the years but I kept up with him and his family through my brother. His loss is a great one. I'm so sorry I wasn't able to make the memorial service as I wanted to tell his family of my memories in person.

Our hearts were broken when we heard on the sudden demise of our uncle Mr. Chandra Kintala. He will always be in our hearts. When Uncle and Aunt had shifted to Bangalore in the Year 2006, I remember uncle stating it was like second married life with a
new apartment, new car, new job, new lifestyle at Bangalore. It took a while for them to settle down in Bangalore when Uncle started enjoying eating Gol Gappas on the streets, driving on
Bangalore roads. We were sad when Uncle decided to leave
Bangalore, but were happy for Uncle and Aunt when they decided to go back to NJ to spend more time with Kumar and Sreelata. Amitesh my 4 year old would miss greatly playing with his grandpa. May his soul RIP.

Dear Bharati, Kumar and Sreelata,
Chandra leaves behind a trail of broken hearts. Mohan Rao touched so many of us, he was a natural gentleman and a scholar. Both aspects came to him easily as is evident by the many guests he and his family has hosted at their homes not just for an evening but for extended stays. Chandra had an immense amount of patience and a zest for adventure. He put up with 3 undergrads as roommates during the most crucial stages of his doctoral studies. We would bug him to no end pushing the envelope, but he was more than happy to participate, always humble and accommodating. I can still picture him as he would sit at his desk in a huge office full of fellow graduate students. He would either be working away with his thinking cap on or participating in a discussion with colleagues. After we all left Penn State, we still kept in touch sharing with each other the trials and tribulations of life. It is with great sorrow that I bid my friend good bye, but know that he will be with me forever via the positive influence and guidance he provided.
Kintala family we grieve with you and feel for you, please do not hesitate to call us as we care deeply for you. Having watched our families grow and mature, we feel like you are part of our family. You will always be in our thoughts and prayers, as you work through the difficult times, take comfort in knowing that we are there for you.

Chandra touched the lives of everyone he met with his quick warm smile and great sense of humor. He was often understated. Soon after I moved to Los Angeles I visited Chandra in his Santa Monica apartment, several months before his beautiful wife Bharati arrived. An earthquake struck and the apartment building shook and everyone emptied out into the streets. Wow, what a great way to meet your neighbors, Chandra exclaimed. He was always very interested in other people. Years later Chandra & Bharati invited me and my girlfreind Vicki to their house for dinner and what a wonderful and memorable dinner it was. There was must have been something special in the delicious food that Bharati prepared because that evening we fell in love and started our life's adventures together. Chandra and Bharati attended our marriage and later, with friends Anil Mahajan & Larry Aaron, visited our premature son James in a Brooklyn hospital to offer moral support. We do not encounter people like Chandra very often in this life and I feel truly blessed for having known him and being able to call him a friend. Vicki and I will miss him and will keep him in our prayers always.
