Obituary of Albert B. Eichkorn

Bridgewater: Albert B. Eichkorn, 78 of Bridgewater passed away peacefully on Friday, March 5, 2010. Mr. Eichkorn was born and raised in the Bronx to the late August and Anna Eichkorn of Germany. After graduating Fordham University, he served in the U.S. Army before moving to Bridgewater, NJ where he has resided for the past 46 years. Albert worked at Westinghouse Electric Co and Philips Lighting for 40 years as a systems manager. For over 30 years, he was a dedicated parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church in Martinsville where he provided many services as a Eucharistic Minister usher and alter server. He was a charter and lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5959 of Martinsville. He was also a past Grand Knight and Member of the Third Degree. Other activates included the Circle of Friends, RVCC Theatre Volunteer and square dancing as a member of the B-Sharps of Somerville. Albert was very active in charity work and received the Senior Citizen of the Year award in 2002. An avid gardener, Al also enjoyed traveling, sports, especially the Yankees and Giants and loved his wife's cooking. He is predeceased by his first wife of 33 years, Margery Kelly; a sister Mildred Migdacz, and son in law Christopher Sawey. Albert is survived by his wife "Joannie" (Spagnolo); daughters Kathleen Sawey of Hawthorne, NJ, Allison Sellers and her husband Scott of Quakertown, PA; niece, Ann Jansen and her husband David of Edison; his father in law, Edward Kulik of Bridgewater; grandchildren, Steven, Daniel and John; Step-children Leonard Spagnolo and his wife Renee and son Daniel of Branchburg, Valerie Spagnolo and her husband Ron Cooper, Bethel Spagnolo, all of Seattle, WA, as well as many other extended family members. Al will be greatly missed by his family and many wonderful, supportive neighbors and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday March 9, 2010 at 9:00 am at Higgins Home For Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung followed by a 10:00 am Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, Martinsville followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway.
