I love you pop.
Even after ten years, I always think about you.
All my students know about you, as does every boss and coworker I've ever had.
You were a grandpa that no one else can beat.
Your intelligence and candor were unrivaled.
Ergo (the word you taught me all those years ago): I miss you.

I so much enjoyed being around Merl. He had such a great dry sense of humor, and was so passionate about the Heifer fund and music. In his better health days, he had such much energy and joy. I'm so glad I knew him and he will be profoundly missed.

I will greatly miss Merl's sense of humor and sarcasm. He was an enormous part of the character of TUC, and his legacy will not be forgotten...

What I will miss most is the way Merl made me laugh. His sense of humor was huge and he always had a comment to make that would result in a whole group laughing outloud.
To be in Merl's presence was great fun!

Merl, a man for whom I had the greatest respect. I enjoyed the social and spiritual times spent together at Trinity United Church. Our occasional musical ventures at the church were always a fun experience.

My best memory of Merl was working with him one Christmas at Trinity United Church. He was the conductor and I the accompanist. I looked forward to the rehearsals because Merl was so much fun and such a good musician. I was impressed with his knowledge and consummate humor. He was very involved in the church and had many admirers. I am one and will miss him.

Everytime we had a social event at the church and people gathered in groups to talk I always tried to wedge my way into the group where MERL was as there was always so much laughter..he had such a cool way to see life and have us find merriment in it. We all will rememeber the joy he brought as he shared his life with us at Trinity United..what a blessing and gift..thank you Merl...Yvette

Music,Music,Music is what I think of when remembering Merl. Thanks to Merl and the bunch of clarinets he bought on eBay (of which I bought one), I've been sharing my music ever since. He had such a creative spirit and generous heart. Heifer fund...thanks for bugging us to make our goal every year! Readers Theatre was so much fun and gave a powerful message each and every time it was done. Thanks Merl...you will be missed at TUC!

A caring and loving God softens the pain of losing a friend. Merl had a way of fixing problems either with words or with his tool box. His spirit was deeply felt in TUC. As he walks with his God to his new home they will have a lively conversation. How long will this walk be..as long as a memory. May grief be short and memories forever.
