Obituary of Grace Nittoli
Grace Pepe Nittoli passed into eternal rest on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the McCarrick Care Center in Somerset, New Jersey. Grace was born in Peapack-Gladstone on August 1, 1917. She lived most of her life in the Plainfield area.
In her earlier years she was an active member of the Plainfield Rescue Squad Auxiliary and St. Mary's Altar Rosary Society. She worked many years at the former Capital Bakery and Steinbach's Department Store in Plainfield before retiring and spending the winter months with her late husband in Vero Beach Florida where they added to their many friendships.
Grace wore many hats. She was a Wife, Mom, Grandma, Nonna, Zia, Aunt and true friend to many people. She made herself available to her many Italian relatives as they immigrated to the U.S. and lovingly helped them settle in the Plainfield area often making her home theirs. Her favorite pastime was entertaining her family and friends at her home serving an abundance of Italian food and drink. Her joy in life was her family and extended family. She loved to tease and make people laugh.
She is predeceased by her loving husband of more than 65 years, Angelo Nittoli, and her grandson, Billy Ginda. Also, her brothers, Anthony and Nicholas Pepe, and son-in-law, Preston Smith.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Anthony Nittoli, of Raritan; daughters, Rosalie Ginda and Carolyn Smith of Somerset, Angela Reitemeyer and husband John of Piscataway. Also ten grandchildren, Angelo Nittoli, Anthony Nittoli, Theresa Logan, Ken Karl, Derek Nittoli, David Nittoli, Jennifer Shattle, Catherine Byrne, Thomas Reitemeyer and Michael Reitemeyer. 18 great grandchildren. And numerous nieces and nephews.
For those who choose, donations may be given in her memory to the Piscataway Senior Center.
Funeral services will begin Thursday July 29, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home For Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung, followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Fatima in Piscataway. Entombment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
