Obituary of Betty J. Loizeaux
The family of Betty Jeanne Pagel Loizeaux sadly announces her death on August 20, 2013 in Morristown, NJ. Betty was born on February 26, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Henry George and Ebba Sophia (Andren) Pagel. Betty came to NJ as a child and lived in North Plainfield, Dunellen and Watchung, living with her daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Jack Stillwaggon for the last 11 months.
Betty graduated from North Plainfield High School and worked in New York City as a milliner for Lily Dache to support herself and pay for her lessons at art school. Betty was an accomplished drawer and enjoyed being surrounded by drawings and paintings. In 1946, Betty returned to NJ continuing her milliner career in Plainfield. A romance blossomed with Jerry Blair Loizeaux and they were married on September 6, 1947. They were married for 59 years at the time of Jerry's death in 2006. Their marriage took them to Watchung, NJ, Pennsylvania and they happily returned to New Jersey in 1961 where they remained.
Betty wore many hats during her lifetime. Besides being wife and a mother of three daughters, she cared for many foster children. Betty was very involved with the NJSFWC. Betty started as a member in the 6th district and became President in 1976. In 1986, Betty went on to be State President of the NJSFWC and also represented NJSFWC at the United Nations in New York City. Betty was a longtime active member of Mary E. Wilson Memorial Union Church in Watchung and was their Guild President for many years. Betty was also a member of the U-Go-I-Go Club and Valley Players of Watchung.
Betty is survived by her daughters Jennifer L. Dunsavage and her husband Edward of Ashland, OR., Claudia L. Stillwaggon and her husband Jack of Basking Ridge, NJ and Andrea L. Davis and her husband John of Olympia, WA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jessie, Jon, Christina and Elizabeth, niece Elizabeth McKiniry, nephews Robert Young, David Young and Wayne Resch and cousin Dagmar Smith. Betty was predeceased by her parents, husband and sister Charlotte P. Young. The funeral will be private, a Memorial Service will be held at Mary E. Wilson Memorial Union Church on Monday, August 26th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mary E.
