Only came to know Dick when we all joined the Senior Y exercise class at the new Morris/Essex Jointure School a few years ago It wasn't easy moving our aged bodies around, but it was fun. Too bad it couldn't continue. We would all be better for it!
Sincere condolences to all the family. Your Dad was a gentle man. We will miss his smile.

Dear Wayne and all your family: We were very sad to hear about the passing of your father, and send you our deepest sympathy. Both your parents were very special and together they selflessly gave their time and involvement in the community. It was a great honor to know them. We wish you much strength in this difficult time. When I first met Brian Carlson I was impressed with his willingness to help others in the fire company, his work ethic, and most of all, his integrity. When I met Doris and Dick Carlson, I knew why he became the person he is. There are very few families like this one and with their passing it is the end of an era. My condolences to the family the Carlsons loved so much. They will always be with all of you. Cherish the memories.

I wish I could make the grief that you all must be going through pass quickly. Your dad was always the "go to" guy. If you needed something done in town, he could do it. You all carry pieces of him and your mom that make you the great people you are. Our thoughts are with you in love and friendship..

To Dick's family,
Your dad was a very, very special person. I always looked forward to seeing him, he was often the highlight of my day.
He spoke from his heart, and it did him well. He loved his family, he was always talking about his kids and grandchildren, with a sparkle in his eye! He certainly touched my life, my heart.
I will certainly miss him as I am sure many people who knew him will. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to have him as my friend.

I had the priveledge of serving as a volunteer firefighter with Mr Carlson since 1984. In his later years, he would still get up in the middle of the night and show up with a huge pot of coffee when the call for help put us in a tough spot. His contribution to the community was signiciant and sustained over decades.

I was saddened to hear about the loss of my good friend. Although I have only known Dick for about 4 years, I did enjoy the brief time that I knew him.
