Obituary of Jay Stephen Ben'Ary
Jay Stephen Ben'Ary, age 66, died on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. He was born in Brooklyn, raised in South Plainfield and had lived in Berkeley Heights for 38 years before moving to Watchung in 2011. Mr. Ben'Ary was a graduate of Rutgers University. Prior to his retirement in 2000, he was an English teacher at Plainfield High School. In his retirement, Mr. Ben'Ary was an assistant basketball coach at Pingry High School, and a volunteer with Red Cross and Runnells Hospital. Mr. Ben'Ary was an avid New York sports fan, who followed the Yankees, the Giants and Knicks. His love of sports was only matched by his love of golfing with his friends. Additionally, Mr. Ben'Ary was a frequent writer of letters to the editors of several North Jersey newspapers, and was often published. Mr. Ben'Ary is survived by his wife of 40 years, Adele Nolfi Ben'Ary; his son, Michael Ben'Ary and his wife, Megan; his sisters, Karen Ben'Ary and Marian Greenfield and his niece, Marissa Ben'Ary. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Grace and Owen Ben'Ary. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 2nd at 2:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung.
