Obituary of Adele S. Carter

Adele S. Carter, age 77, went home to the Lord peacefully on September 11, 2015 at her home in Plainfield, NJ after a valiant fight with cancer with her children by her side. Born in Philadelphia, Pa, January 31, 1938 to the late Ernest B. and Hazel Malson, Adele attended Philadelphia Public Schools and earned an Associate's degree from Berkley College. Adele married in 1956 and moved to Plainfield, NJ where she raised her children. Adele had a career as a Customer Service Specialist where her employment spanned from working for RCA, City of Plainfield (CAP), NJ Employment, IBM and Summit Bank before retiring in 2001. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Adele had a love for ceramics which she taught as a volunteer at the Plainfield Senior Center for several years. Adele loved making her mother's holiday cookies, Sunday oven stuffer roaster chicken, gardening, ceramics, music, taking care of her family and a good laugh over coffee with friends. She always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. Her family can attest to the fact that she had a gentle kind soul and would volunteer her helping hands wherever needed. She was always supportive, encouraging, wise, kind and most of all proud of her family. Adele was devout and steadfast in her faith and loved serving the Lord. In July of 2014 Adele was consecrated as a Deaconess at her church Clinton Chapel AME Zion. During her 3 year battle with cancer, her joy, faith and love for her family and the Lord were unwavering. Predeceased by her parents, Ernest B. and Hazel Malson, brother Barry, Sons Barney A., Gary and granddaughter Bailey. She leaves to cherish her memory brothers Ernest B. Malson Jr. (June), George Malson (Josephine), son Herman R. Carter Jr. (Lelia), daughter Linda Carter, grandsons Maurice, Christopher and Nelson, great grandson Kamden, her aunt and uncle Vivian & Peter Certaine, her sister-in-laws Katheryn Smith and Patricia Greer along with her 4 legged grands Jeezy and Jyna and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters in Christ and friends who were very special to her.
