Obituary of Helen Karpinski
Helen (Brzezinski) Karpinski, age 97, passed away on March 20, 2016, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. Born in Bloomfield, she lived most of her life in Bergen County and her home in Pawley's Island, South Carolina.
Helen attended Bloomfield College and was a graduate of The Berkeley School. Prior to retiring in 1984, She worked as an Administrative Assistant for Judge Sylvia Pressler in the Bergen County Superior Court for many years, retiring in 1984.
Helen was an artist, she enjoyed painting and had placed in several juried Art Shows with her work. In her spare time she was an avid golfer.
Predeceased by her husband Henry J. Karpinski in 1996, her son Charles Karpinski in 1984 and her brothers Henry and John Brzezinski.
Surviving are her son Henry Karpinski of Felton, CA; her daughters Joan and her husband Dr. Alan Helfman of Watchung and Mary and her husband Curtis Gunn of Detroit, MI; sister Sophie Micek; 5 grandchildren Jordan, Joshua, Maxwell, Jason and Allison; 3 great-grandchildren Alicia, Jasmin and Nicole and her sister-in-law Rita Brzezinski. Also survived by several loving nieces and nephews, extended family and cherished friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 2-4 & 6:30-9 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment is private.
