Obituary of Gerard McKenna
Gerard (Jerry) McKenna, age 49, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at his home in Scotch Plains. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he resided in North Plainfield for many years before moving to Scotch Plains 10 years ago.
Jerry graduated from Rutgers University with a BS in Environmental Science. He worked for the EPA in New York City as an Environmental Scientist, working specifically on drinking water with Native American Tribes.
Jerry was a member of St. Luke's Church in North Plainfield. Jerry was a sports fanatic. Above all else, he loved spending time with his best buddy, Patrick.
Predeceased by his mother Virginia Claire McKenna in 2011.
Survived by his wife Amy (Toth) McKenna; his son Patrick McKenna; his father Gerard McKenna; brothers Dan McKenna and his wife Amy and Thomas McKenna and his wife Esther; sisters Maureen Tanko and Eileen Zwolak and her husband Stanley; nieces and nephews Joseph, Christine, Matthew, Ryan, Mary, Kacie, Stephen, Peter and Kellie; his in laws Peter and Deborah Toth.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Church, North Plainfield.
