I spent five years living next door to the Walshes as a kid, and we lived in the same town for six more years after that. They were the first neighbors I really knew well (I was only three when we moved in next door to them), and, during that time, we were more like family than neighbors.
So it kind of feels like losing part of my family to hear that Mrs. Walsh has passed away, following her husband in death by just five years. To think that both Betty and Hank are gone—two people who were there for me on an almost daily basis for five years—is devastating.
I would like to offer my heartfelt sympathy and appreciation to the four Walsh children—Laura, Jeanne, Chris, and Maureen—and to celebrate and thank those people in all of our lives who helped raise us even though they didn't have to do so. Here's to a life well lived, Betty (and Hank). You will not be forgotten.
