Obituary of Irene Talmo
Irene May (Toth) Talmo, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at her home in North Plainfield. Born in Perth Amboy, she lived and was raised in Carteret and in Newark before moving to Germany for 1 1/2 years, then back to Newark and has lived in North Plainfield for the past 51 years.
Prior to retiring in 2008, Irene worked for the North Plainfield Board of Education as a library aide at the East End School for over 35 years. Irene was a communicant of St. Joseph's RC Church in North Plainfield; she was also a member of St. Anthony Holy Rosary Society. She was secretary of Plains Women's Bowling League in Watchung for 21 years. Irene loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and she never missed watching one of their sporting or school events.
Survived by her loving husband Vincent J. Talmo; her daughter Cheryl Whalen and son Vincent A. Talmo and his fiancée' Susan Tarbous; grandchildren Melissa and Joe Whalen; sister Eleanor Slyvchak.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. Funeral services will begin on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Joseph's RC Church, North Plainfield. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Stony Hill Cemetery, Watchung.
