In 1972 I entered the 9 grade of Millburn Junior High School, knowing no one. I attended St. Rose of Lima School for 8 years of my education and would attend one year at MJH before going on to the high school. Being shy, coming to a new school and knowing no one was scary. Valerie approached me one day as I sat alone in the cafeteria and said, "Hi, my name is Val". She became my friend from that day on and what a ride it was.
Valerie was a kind, caring and giving woman. She was non-judgmental and smart. She loved to read and play her guitar. I still play the first song she taught me to play but it never came close to her playing. Never ever!!! Valerie was "one of a kind" and she walked to the beat of her own drum and that is one thing I really loved about her. She was creative, adventurous and always inquisitive.
I will miss you my friend. Rest in Peace.
Love you Always,
Patti

Valerie was my good friend and an excellent listener. I could tell her almost anything. I am grateful for the time I spent with her and the wonderful conversations we had. I was always struck by her high intelligence and genuine interest in so many subjects. She was an animal lover and she loved her dog Levi so much. I will always remember the trip we took to Jamaica together. I was so impressed with her tenacity when after her first stroke she studied and attended workshops until she was able to take her exam to become a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor. I'm certain she helped numerous addicts in the years she worked for the Morris Foundation at Griggs Street Shelter. Now she is with her Mom and all her beloved cats and with Levi. Val, I hope you will save a seat for me so I can hang out with you again when my time comes.

I have Memories of Valerie from elementary school. Valerie was always smiling and fun to be around. One thing that stands out was her and another friend Nancy wanted to build a raft and go somewhere down the river from Taylor Park. I remember a concern over a first aid kit. Personally, I know I had never planned to get on a raft, but stay safe in my house. Reading her obituary I see she liked travel, scuba and kayaking. I see she kept her love of adventure and spirit in her life. Sorry to hear of my friends passing,

My deepest sympathies to Mr. Blasi, Bryan and Robin. Patti, Val and I hung out together in high school. Val always made us laugh. I have many fond memories and feel blessed to have had her in my life. I was fortunate enough to visit Val (with Patti) last year. We brought her a Sloppy Joe and had a wonderful visit. Valerie and I often listened to a favorite song of hers - Stairway To Heaven. Val has climbed to the top! There really is a Heaven...a place of love and tranquility. I love you Val.

I have known Val since I was 21. She was in her 30s when we met. She was a gentle person and was very crafty. Nature really interested her. She sponsored a Manatee for a while. She enjoyed the water, trees, closer and pussy willows. A few times made crafty items with dead tree limbs. We had alot of fun hanging out. She struggled for quite some time with diabetes related health problems. So sorry her time on earth was cut so short. Her father and Patricia Delgado & Anna meant alot to her. Her sister Robin was also very close to her. Her brother visited her once in Danbury and did a snow angel outside. That meant something to her that both he and Robin visited.
