Obituary of Anna E. Krovatin

Anna Elizabeth "Betty" Krovatin died peacefully on May 13, 2018, at the Hunterdon Care Center in Flemington after a short illness. She was 88 years old. Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Michael Doherty and Sara Nevins Doherty, she lived most of her life in the Plainfield's. She graduated in 1947 from North Plainfield High School. She was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, J. William Krovatin, in 1982. Betty was retired from her position as the executive assistant to the Vice President of Human Resources at the former Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. She was an avid reader, a lifelong bridge player, and an active member of the Women's Auxiliary at Muhlenberg Hospital, where she continued to volunteer countless hours after her retirement. Betty delighted in sharing her pride in her Irish American heritage. Her father, the late Michael Doherty, immigrated from County Derry, Ireland, in the late 1880's, and raised a family of six on Oak Tree Avenue in South Plainfield. Betty is survived by her six sons, Gerald (Anna Quindlen) of New York, John (Cheryl) of Overland Park, Kansas, James (Mary) of Flemington, William (Patricia Schiripo) of Glen Ridge, Daniel of Ewing, and Thomas (Christine Brandenburg) of South Plainfield, ten grandchildren (Kathryn, Carey Lynn, Quindlen, Christopher, Maria, Brendan, Jan, Victoria, Lucie and Robert) and one great grandson (Arthur). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Church of the Sacred Heart in South Plainfield, with a viewing to be held at the Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, New Jersey, on Thursday, May 17th, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
