Obituary of Catherine Schley

Catherine Schley, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. Born and raised in Plainfield, she had resided in Watchung since 1965. Catherine was the Chief Financial Officer for the Township of Watchung for 25 years retiring in 1995. Prior to that she had worked at Union Carbide. She was a member of St. Mary's Stony Hill Church in Watchung and volunteered at various activities within the church. Catherine was a member of the Watchung Garden Club and volunteered at the voting polls during elections. She was very involved with the town of Watchung and was always willing to give a helping hand to the needs of her community. Catherine loved music especially Jazz, traveling and dining out with her friends. She also spent her winters with her son and daughter-in-law at their home in Scottsdale, AZ. Predeceased by her husband Donald Schley, her daughter Mary Catherine Schley, brother Joseph Hobbib and sister Anna Najim. Survived by her two sons Lance Schley and his wife Ruby and daughter Tara, Jay Schley (Lucille) siblings George, Norman and Lou Hobbib. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A funeral gathering will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Stony Hill Church, Watchung.
