Obituary of Evelyn E. Savarese
Evelyn (Grandma) Savarese was born in Philadelphia, PA. on April 7th, 1923. Raised in Philadelphia, PA., she was one of seven children. Evelyn graduated 5th in her class from South PA. High School for Girls. During World War II, while employed at the Philadelphia Naval Base, Evelyn was secretary to the head Naval Architect in the Engineering and Test Division; who helped construct the Battleship New Jersey. While working at the Philadelphia Naval Base Evelyn met and married the love of her life; James Savarese.
While lovingly raising her family, Evelyn worked for Thomas & Betts Corporation and accomplished the following: Telecommunications Managers Association of NJSS; Association of Records Management Managers and Administration; Advisory Board of Bridgewater, NJ High School; Advisory Board of Somerset County Technical Vocational; Pioneer of the Cooperative Education program between Battin High School in Elizabeth and the State of NJ.
Evelyn reluctantly retired in 1992; at the age of 72 when the company moved South.
Evelyn was predeceased by her parents and six siblings, as well as her loving husband of 66 years James. Evelyn is survived by her sons Brian of Washington, NJ. and Glenn and his wife Patricia of Nazareth, PA.; Her six beloved grandchildren; Rachael, Scott, Christopher, Nicole, Jason and Timothy and her three precious great grandchildren; Mark, Gianna and
Giovanni. As well as many loved nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd, Watchung NJ 07069
Thursday, December 13th; Viewing from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM followed by a brief service from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM
