Two memories are prominent when I think of Uncle Walter and both of them are from when I would spend a week at Grandma’s when I was 10-ish. We played a game of checkers and he set me up to win with a triple jump, then pretended to be scared of me every time he saw me for the rest of the day. The other memory is of him arriving home from work, changing into his trunks, and taking a running leap into your backyard pool, whooping and hollering the whole way. He was greatly loved.
