Obituary of Walter George Walz
Walter George Walz, age 86, passed away Friday December 14, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick surrounded by his loving family. Born in Plainfield, Walter had resided in North Plainfield before moving to Green Brook in 1960.
Walter proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict where he was stationed in Germany.
Walter began his career as a barber with his father at George’s Barber Shop in Plainfield. Walter continued the family business until his retirement. He later went back to work at the Warren Middle School in the maintenance department. Walter was very proud of both of his careers and the relationships he made.
He loved spending his summer days at the Middlesex Township Pool with his family and taking trips to the Jersey Shore. He also enjoyed taking trips with the Senior Citizens Club. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He had a wonderful playful personality and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Louise Walz; four daughters Anita Brower and her husband William, Linda Salvatore and her husband John, Donna Turlik and her husband John and Dawn Lawless and her fiancée Anthony; eight grandchildren Todd (Christina), Alissa (Justin), John, Laura (Garrett), John (Jessie), Christopher (Stephanie), Christine and Frank. He is also survived by five great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday December 18, 2018 from 4pm to 8pm at Higgins Home for Funerals 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 am at the funeral home followed by the interment at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains NJ.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a tree planting fund to honor Walter at the Middlesex Community Pool at 1200 Mountain Ave. Middlesex ,NJ attention: Jim Grimm or to your local Humane Society
