Paul Jay’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5:28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope.

To the family of Paul Ratner
Please accept my sincere condolences. I have taken comfort knowing that God . . . will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain.”—Revelation 21:3, 4
The Bible, however, holds out a much different hope. As we have previously noted, the Scriptures indicate that it is possible to be reunited with your dead loved one in the near future, not in an unknown heaven but right here on earth under peaceful, righteous conditions. And at that time humans will have the prospect of enjoying perfect health, and they will never have to die again. ‘But surely that is wishful thinking!’ for some may say. For words of encouragement please go to JW.org
Sincerely,
Roberta

I’m so sorry for your loss. The bible is so true when it mentions “the sting of death”. Death is truly painful for family and friends. The God of the bible Jehovah says he's going to “swallow up death forever and bring back to life on earth all those who have died in his memory” (Isaiah 25:8). This scripture has given me comfort and I pray you receive comfort from it also.

Dear Paul:
Your brought me literature, lessons for life, and opera, and La Boheme with you that afternoon long ago in NYC still resides in my soul today. I’m deeply saddened that you’ve left us but you touched many a life and made many people see this world differently. Your joy and laughter will always echo in the NPHS hallways, as will that record player blaring Montserrat Caballe, Maria Callas, Renata Tebaldi and Joan Sutherland singing Puccini arias. I can only smile wondering how many other English classes missed how those arias lifted the souls and imaginations of YOUR students through and outside those schoolroom windows. You had a profound and very positive impact on my life and I’m eternally grateful for the friendship we shared! Go rest now in your favorite arias. We’ll all miss you so.
