Every so often, I had the pleasure of sitting & talking with Helen in the back yard of her son (Mike) & daughter-in-law's (Arleen) home where she shared her most capable & enjoyable abilities of sewing & using a sewing machine. Unfortunately, Helen had to leave some of her prize possessions behind due to her new living environment. She shared with me, " I could still hem my pants if I had a needle & some colored thread." Then she asked me, "Do you have a thread & needle?" I immediately said, "I think so but have to check." Well. I found a petite travelers sewing kit & knew it would hit home.
I took the sewing kit over to her & it brought the biggest & warmest smile to her face. She continued to tell me how she was going to fix her pants. It also brought a heart warming smile to me too!
She said Thank you & said that she would now be able to settle in tonight & go about fixing her pants.
