Carol and I met in 1967, our freshman year at Rutgers Newark, in first semester Calculus 101. We also both spent time together at the Newman Center, and later as computer programmers at PSE&G. Anyway, back to Rutgers and 1967-68: our section of Calc 101 was specifically for serious math majors. I worked hard and felt I was doing quite well. I thought I would impress the course professor, who was my advisor. But Carol ace'd all the tests and the final exam, blowing the scoring curve on all the tests for the rest of us in the class. I settled for a final grade of B. When second semester began, I was surprised to find Carol had not registered for Calc 102. I later found out that over the winter recess, she had decided to change majors because she found math "boring". What a brilliant woman!

Dearest Aunt Carol ,
You were the best aunt I could ever ask for. You were funny loving generous to me my siblings and then our children. Never did you ever forget one single birthday! We shared our Ukrainian genes and you bought me my very first Ukrainian Easter egg making kit. You went with me when I was 15 to adopt my first ever dog “ brandy” . You helped me with my family tree project in high school and provided all the photos and family history. So proud to be Ukrainian! Will never forget❤️

Aunt Carol-
I will miss your smiling face every day. You were a true inspiration. You lived your life with gratitude for what you had and never regret for what you did not. You prayed for others always before yourself and never questioned God’s plan. Thank you for trusting me with your care and bringing so many wonderful people into my life. Rest now. You will always be my angel and I will never forget. ❤️
