Obituary of JoAnn F. Scalera

JoAnn Scalera, age 78, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at her home in Warren, NJ. She was born in Elizabeth, NJ in 1942 to her parents Joseph and Antoinette Lisi. JoAnn graduated from Batten High School in Elizabeth NJ in 1961. JoAnn helped run her husband’s dental practice in Scotch Plains, NJ, and was the business manager of their company, Wind Dancer Management. She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Stony Hill Church in Watchung, NJ. JoAnn enjoyed many hobbies, including bible study, knitting, Mahjong, and sailing. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her Family and Friends, who she loved very dearly. JoAnn is predeceased by her husband Robert (2010), her mother Antoinette (2005), and her father Joseph (1986) She is survived by her children, Robert Scalera Jr., and his wife Cindy, Lisa Scalera, David Scalera, and his wife Michelle, Matthew Scalera, and his wife Shelby, Dorianne Horvath and her husband Steve. She is further survived by 12 grandchildren: Lauren Fairweather, Jason Scalera, Danielle Fairweather, Allison Scalera, Jennifer Scalera, Justin Scalera, Alyssa Fairweather, Brandon Horvath, Joseph Scalera, Maxwell Scalera, Samuel Scalera, and Julia Horvath; one great-grandchild, Rory Maggiacomo; her brother Anthony Lisi, and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2020, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 19, 2020, at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Stony Hill Church, 225 Mountain Blvd, Watchung, NJ 07069. A private entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Due to COVID-19, there will be no repass.
