Obituary of Joseph DeMato
Joseph DeMato, age 84, passed away this Thursday, December 17, 2020. Born in Bound Brook, Joseph was a resident of Scotch Plains, and more recently, Martinsville.
Joseph graduated from Bound Brook High School, where he was a star athlete. Joseph went on to continue his education at Ithaca College in New York where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree.
For many years, Joseph was General Manager of Autoland in Springfield and Toms River.
He enjoyed trout fishing, a good martini, and was an avid sports fan, particularly fond of the Yankees, the Giants, and Rutgers football. In the winter, Joseph and his wife, Sharon, would spend their time in Naples, Florida, and throughout the years, traveled all over the world. Joseph also enjoyed his monthly dinners with his former Bound Brook High School classmates.
He is predeceased by his mother and father, Mary and Joseph DeMato, his daughter, Bridget, his brother, Tony Alaimo, and his husband-in-law, Mike Moran.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon DeMato; his children, Bryan DeMato, Lisa DeMato, Tara (Gregg) Pulsinelli, and Tracie Moran; his siblings, William (Patricia) DeMato, Louie (Kathy) DeMato, Nancy Cristaldi, and Angela Alaimo; and his three grandchildren, Gregg (and fiancée Melissa) Pulsinelli, Anthony Pulsinelli, and Joseph Rivers; his brother-in-law, Timothy Dowd; and five sister-in-laws, Nancy Dowd, Dawn Dowd, Donna Scarola, Randi Klepner, and Patti Inglese, and her husband, Pete. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all.
A public visitation will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020, at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung, NJ, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Mount Church in Warren on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. A live stream of the Mass will be available at ourladyofthemount.org. Interment will follow at Bound Brook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Joseph’s name.
