I will remember our father for his wisdom and the values that he instilled in his children. He truly believed in 'Honesty is the Best Policy' in life, and professed it. I remember him saying that 'Truth fears no examination, therefore you will never need to be afraid of anything'.
He was a man of not too much wealth, but he made sure all of his children got the best possible education. My siblings and I never had to pay a single penny in loans. It was not easy for him and our mother. However, he believed that education is the best inheritance he could leave us. He was so right!!!
His words of wisdom have had a major impact on my life. He instilled honesty, integrity, and confidence in us. He had a great policy to handle any test in life, whether it was academic, professional in nature, or just life in general. When one is preparing for the test, always think you don't know anything, and work the hardest possible to prepare for it. However, when you take the test, always believe that you are the best qualified individual in the whole world. It always worked! I successfully applied this strategy for interviews, presentations on big stages, professional exams, and much more. The credit of my success goes to him who believed in me and always supported my endeavors.
He will truly be missed! However, his legacy will continue to live.

My dad was a man of compassion. One day he was walking on the streets of Chandigarh (India). He saw a bird catcher with a large cage packed with a lot of parrots. He was selling the parrots on the streets. My dad decided to save the parrots. He asked the man if he had a license to catch and sell the parrots. The man got scared as he did not have a license, but started an argument with my dad. With the noise generated, many people started to gather around these two guys. My dad told everyone that those parrots deserve to be free and not left captive in a small cage for the rest of their lives. My dad and some other spectators made a deal with the bird catcher to pool money and buy all the parrots and free them. Most of the parrots were freed, but some parrots were sick and some more had their wings clipped by the bird catcher. So my dad brought those birds home and my family took care of them until the birds were healthy enough to fly. Some birds did not get better, so my dad took time off from work and travelled to Delhi, where he took them to a bird hospital where the birds could get medical care and then freed into wild.
