Obituary of Sardar Balbir Singh Bagga

Sardar Balbir Singh Bagga, age 94, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021. He was born and raised in Wazirabad, Punjab, Greater India in 1926 to Santokh Singh and Gurbachan Kaur Bagga. In 1941, he moved to Lahore, Punjab, Greater India, and resided there until 1947. Then, he moved to Punjab, India, that same year and stayed until 1996. He was a resident of New Jersey from 1996 onward.

 

He graduated from Hindu High School in Wazirabad, Punjab, Greater India, and then went to study at the Forman Christian College, Lahore, Greater India. Finally, he went on to continue his post-education at the Delhi School of Economics in New Delhi, India.

 

He was employed by the Government of Punjab as a Senior General Manager, in the Department of Industries, based in the city of Amritsar, in Punjab, India, for many years until his retirement in 1984.

 

Sardar Bagga was a member of the Sikh Gurdwara of Glen Rock, NJ, Sri Guru Singh Sabha.

 

He enjoyed many things in his spare time such as listening to spiritual music, ice skating, tennis, and photography. Sadar Bagga also loved playing with the Bagga family dogs.

He is preceded in death by his father, Santokh Singh Bagga, and his mother, Gurbachan Kaur Bagga; and his 8 siblings: Harbans Singh Bagga, Rani Kaur, Parduman Singh Bagga, Narwant Singh Bagga, Balbir Kaur Chowdhry, Parkash Kaur, Surinder Kaur, and Ranbir Singh Bagga.

 

He is survived by his wife, Gobinder Kaur Bagga; his 3 children: Paramjeet Singh Bagga and his wife, Sumeet Kaur Bagga, Preetmohinder Singh Bagga, and his wife, Harpreet Kaur Bagga, and Charanpreet Singh Bagga; and 2 grandchildren: Joetsaroop Singh Bagga and Nimrit Kaur.
