Patrick Moccia

Obituary of Patrick Moccia

Patrick Edward Moccia, 47, of Doylestown, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 29, 2021.

Patrick was born in Seoul, South Korea, and was lovingly adopted at the age of two by Carl and Therese Moccia of Cliffside Park, NJ.  Patrick found his true calling when he took his first teaching job at a public high school.  Teaching provided him with the opportunity to combine his passion for woodworking with his love of mentorship.  Pat taught most recently at Pompton Lakes High School where he proudly wore his Cardinal attire. Despite a long commute, Pat dreaded teaching remotely and eagerly looked forward to getting back into the woodshop where he could interact with his students and deepen his relationships with his new colleagues.

Patrick loved adrenaline, competition, and the outdoors.  He was never happier than when he was fishing with his brothers, hiking with his wife, mountain bike riding with his Del Val posse, hanging out at Lake George with his family, scuba diving or playing hockey.  He was equally happy with sand between his toes or snow up to his ears, just as long as he was outside and in good company.  After a day of adventure and sometimes just sitting on the couch, Patrick loved to cook for his family and sample craft beer with his wife.

Patrick embodied kindness and tried to create connections with everyone he met.  Family was very important to Pat and his greatest joy came from spending time with his four beautiful daughters, Ella, Mia, Payton and Harper.  Pat knew how to be a great “girl” dad as his roughhousing skills and tolerance for pillow fights knew no bounds.  Chaos was fine, treats were plentiful, laughter abounded and clean-up time could always wait until later.

Patrick is survived by his wife Christy, four daughters, four stepchildren, parents Carl and Therese Moccia, five brothers Carl, Pete, Ed, Chris and Joe, three sisters Frannie, Anne Marie and Clare, as well as spouses and nieces and nephews too numerous to mention individually.  He also leaves behind his loving uncle John Brunelli and Aunt Carmela Moccia Brunelli, who were a second set of parents to him.
