Though in virtual attendance, I was there in spirit to honor and celebrate the life of Mary Magiline Wilson. It was bittersweet that at the same time, I was receiving my Covid-19 vaccination. During my 15 minutes of waiting, I got to sit in the sanctuary of this beautiful Church & watch the service and pray. I was overcome with peace knowing that I could still be tuned in. Precious moments and stories were shared, it took me back to my childhood. I have to say, of the countless memories I have stored, the one's sitting on her lap as she sung, "What are little boys made of," brought the most joy to my heart. Of course she made it sound so sweet when it got to what little girls were made of and would cuddle me closer. You see, those moments mattered because my own mother worked long 2nd shift hours as a nurse after a bitter divorce from my father. That's where Aunt Mag & Uncle Shelton stood in the gap for us and I'm forever thankful for the friendship forged w/ my Mother from Maryland to Plainfield. I won't share my mother's story, as that's her story to tell. Although they were my God parents, we affectionately called them Aunt & Uncle like everyone else. I shared this purple candle because I still remember the purple velour overalls they bought me for my birthday as a little girl; it's been my favorite color ever since.
Extending love, light and prayers of comfort to the immediate and entire family. Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. The Matriarch has earned her wings & is back with Uncle Shelton again. May peace be upon her.

There are no words in the entire world that can accurately describe how amazing this woman was. Always smiling and full of so much love. I may not have been blood but I was always treated like family. I was the youngest in the house full of teenagers and adults; and without fail, Aunt Mag made sure I never felt alone. From silly conversations over coffee to sitting on the dining room floor playing with Barbies.
Aunt Mag, I never thanked you for making me feel welcome and for all the love you've shown.https://s3.amazonaws.com/skins.funeraltechweb.com/tribute-gestures/Candle.png
