Obituary of Carmen Antonelle
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Carmen Antonelle, (Phillipsburg, New Jersey), who passed away at the age of 78, on February 20th, 2021, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was the loving and devoted husband to Ida for the past 56 years. Carmen was a kind, affectionate and selfless father to his 3 children Thomas, Gregory, and Claudia (Shore). He was also the loving grandfather to 9 grandchildren, Thomas (TJ), Alexandria, Ryan, Juliette, Tyler, Trey, Andrew, Christina, and Nicholas. He is predeceased by his parents Angela and Albert Antonelle and his sister Joan Noury.
Carmen was born June 27, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY. He was known for his passion for art and together with Ida loved antiques. It was at the Art Career School in the Flat Iron building New York City where he met his beloved wife and best friend of 56 years.
In 1972 Carmen went out on his own establishing an enormously successful advertising agency named Positive Response., LLC where he worked until his retirement.
Together, Carmen and Ida built a loving home that was always open to their children and their spouses; (David, Elyssa, and Jeffrey), the grandchildren, aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, where countless celebrations, family gatherings, life lessons and memories were made.
Carmen and Ida were active members of St Mary’s Stony Hill Church in Watchung for over 30 years, establishing lifelong friends through their commitment to GOD and the parish where they frequently opened their home for many parish events and parties.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 28 th , 2021 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Higgins Home For Funerals (752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung, NJ 07069). A mass to celebrate his life will be on Monday, March 1 at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Church, 225 Mountain Blvd. Carmen will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Cemetery, (Plainfield Ave., Watchung, NJ 07069).
