My condolences to the Edwin Hunte family. Edwin was the photographer at the joint birthday celebration for me and my aunt, Marcia in December 2021. Though I only know him briefly through in a professional capacity, he was a nice, courteous, and patient person. He did a marvelous job with the photos he took, and the photo books he made for us, which showed his great skills and pride in his work. My family have and will continue to appreciate these keepsakes he created for us to years to come. God bless.

My dear brother Donavan grew up in a tightly wrapped cocoon of five - our grandma
Maggie, Mama, Edmond, Donavan and I lived for each other and shared everything.
With added love from grandma Essie, uncle Arthur and aunt Lucille. Donavan was an
adorable and inquisitive little brother who adored his grandma who would cook what he wanted. He loved mama whom he teased and tickle up to adulthood. He was the taste tester of my baking, always said it tasted good even if it flopped. In his early teen he showed his gardening skills at our new house by putting in grass and planting flowers with grandma. He was always ready to hold Edmond when it was time for medicine or said he would take it for him. He played soccer, cricket and marbles with Edmond and his friends. His true childhood pals were his cousin Danny,
his partner in mischief Angie and his friend since elementary school Carol. We will miss our Story teller, Memory bank and Comedian, Love him for always. Thank God for Donny - his son - who is everything like Donavan for us to love.

I have very fond memories of Donavan. He was a dear friend of my husband and his brother Butch. I remember how they loved reviving up their corvettes! I can remember my husband asking Donavan to pick me up from work one day in the 80’s and I tell you it was the fastest car ride I ever experienced! He was a really humble man and will be missed by all. Now My husband has his car buddy with him to talk of the good ole days.
My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones.
Rest In Peace Donavan. Amen.

My heartfelt condolences goes out to Pat and Eddie's immediate family. Where do I start? I met Eddie's more than 50 years ago (yes, I'm aging myself). We met at Gaynstead High School. Eddie's was the student who sat in the back of the classroom, especially when there was cricket matches going on. Eddie would sit with his transistor radio wrapped up in his handkerchief. I remember one of our teachers offering him a Phensic because she asked if he had a toothache and he said he did. At lunch Eddie was able to give the scores from the cricket matches.
We migrated to the US the same year and lost touch with each other. Fast forward to the late 70s. I was visiting NJ from Florida and went to a park in Plainfield, I looked across the field and saw this brethren walking towards the water fountain, I looked at the gait of the person walking and decided it had to be none other than Edwin Hunte. I walked towards the fountain and we looked at each other and said each other's names. I never saw Eddie in person again. However, another schoolmate and I connected through FB. I asked for Eddie and was able to get his phone #and we reconnected.
I would have to set aside time for our phone calls because when Eddie and I got on the phone, the stories he would share, the reminiscing we would do...A few times I even got to talk with Pat.
One of our last conversations I expressed to him that I had had some health challenges, I distinctly remember him saying, "Baby girl, you need to take care of yourself."
Eddie, I am so happy we reconnected. Thank you for the stories over the past four years, the laughter we shared is indelibly etched in my head and your memory in my heart.
You will be missed.

Uncle D, my goodness I am going to miss you dearly. I remember anticipating your arrival on holidays and when you arrived you'd give me the tightest hug and say "How is my favorite niece?" After the family got settled, I'd sneak away from my cousins and find a corner in the living room where the adults were to listen to your animated and hilarious stories. You kept the room roaring with laughter. Always in good spirits. I remember you taking notice when I was going through a tough period in my life. You made sure I was ok. I remember you telling me you were proud of me when I got the car I wanted. I'll never forget you, the joy you were to be around, and the endless laughs. Rest in eternal peace. ❤

In 1978 he was my groomsman in my wedding. During the many years we remain close friends. I, being an American, and he a Jamaican, he has the personality that brought people together. He also socialized in all the events we attended, including New Year's parties, Christmas, cookouts...eating, drinking.. all the good stuff! He was truly the life of the party.
Above all, Donovan was a great human being, who exhibited respect, politeness, helpfulness and caring for other.

D was someone who was born with a big personality. He never met a stranger. He knew how to tell a story and instantly brought the room to life when he walked in. D loved to reminisce of life growing up and he was always ready to tell a good story or give a joke about his childhood and his dearly loved grandma. He loved this family deeply and was a pillar for them to lean on. He has left an example for all of us of how to live life with joy and to share that joy with others. He vibe and personality was certainly infectious. My dear cousin D, you will never be forgotten. Sending lots of love always to Pat, Donnie, Mumma, Eddie, Marcie and all the family.

Condolences to Pat & Eddie's extended family.
Judy and I met "Eddie" over fifty years, in high school. He was mischievous and playful, immediately giving me the nickname "Stoosh", pullings my hair, pinching me and throwing pebbles at me as I passed. In truth, the things that should have repelled me from him only endeared me to him. He was unlike any other person I had ever met and immediately, we formed a trio of lifelong friends. Eddie, Judy and I. We remained close friends through the distance of circumstance, with memories of his grandma's pudding and the warmth of our youthful escapades strengthened the belonging, support and the unconditional acceptance, we had always felt in his presence. Eddie has always been the epitome of life, he never failed to seize the day, the moment, and live it to its fullest potential. He inspired others to do the same, his enthusiasm and merriment were infectious, pulling us from the negative into the light. We will always think of you with a smile despite the gap in our lives that the loss of you has left. Our hearts are light because is how you would have preferred it. Eddie you will always be our brother.

I met Donovan when we were 8 years old. His family, Ms. Clair, Marcia and Eddie were our neighbors. Donovan and I became fast friends. Our families became one family. Ms. Clair was a mother to me. Marcia , Eddie and Donovan became my siblings. Donovan and I became best of friends and were inseparable. We got into many mischievous behaviors. One in particular comes to mind. One afternoon we were walking through Race Course when we saw a drunken man coming our way. We were both so terrified. So we hid until he passed us. As he passed he dropped some money. Donovan and I picked up the money and ran home as fast as we could. When we got home we showed my mother the money and told her the story as to how we came to have it. She stopped us in our tracts and sent us back to Race Course to put the money back where we found it. So Donovan and I headed back to Race Course, but were afraid to go back just in case we came upon the man. So we ran back home and hid the money under a pot in the garden. The next day we took the money to Lannaman’s Candy Factory and bought lots of candy. We ate candy until we were sick.
Donovan and I were teenagers when he left me in Jamaica and came to the United States. Shortly after I came up to live with Ms. Clair and Donovan and I reconnected. I remember going to see the movie, the Exorcist with him. We were terrified. That night he could not sleep by himself so he begged me to come and sleep in his room. That was good for me because I was very scared as well.
Donovan has visited me in South Florida a couple of times. We would have loved to visit more often but due to me not liking to fly and his illness we spoke more on the phone.
I am devastated about Donovan leaving us so early. But I take comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering. He has joined my daughter who left one year ago as well.
Donovan I miss you. I know I’ll see you one day in glory.
Your sister Angie

Where do I start...? Eddie and I met back in 1992 at Storer Cable. He took me under his wing and showed me every rope that he knew as we quickly became friends. He met my family, I met most of his that were in town and we just clicked like Batman and Robin. We hung out together, talked, shared stories and wisdom. Worked on cars, chatted about music as he was amazed at how much I knew about Jamaica. He was that older Brother that was there regardless and through thick and thin. He could and would share with me some of his concerns regarding life and that grew our friendship even more. Whenever there were 2 man teams to work in town, it was always Eddie and myself. He’d show me tips, tricks and pointers like none other. We would get our work done, go change clothes and meet up at Italian Village or grab a Patty and a Ginger Beer, as he was very PICKY about his food. We’d have a cold beer after work, laugh and just chat hours at a time. I spoke to Eddie a couple months ago and we talked for several hours. He mentioned then that in the 30+ years of friendship/Brotherhood that we had NEVER had a cross word, attitude towards one another or any other negative thing between us.......Eddie will be forever etched in my heart as I hear his voice calling me “Jimmie”.......Great man, that I was blessed with the honor of knowing and having as a part of my life......Prayers and condolences to his family and all connected to him......Man, this one hit hard but I’m glad that we kept in touch and knew that we truly loved, cared and respected one another. In his famous parting words, “Cool Runnins’........ Blessings my GOOD Brother!
