Dearest Barbara: I was shocked today when I received my copy of the Winter/Spring 2022 Focus for Maryville College, and saw that Tom had passed in July. I was at Maryville College, speaking with your niece Amy, at the library, along with Martha Hess, in June 2021. We spoke fondly of the two of you.
I was in the choir with Tom and enjoyed outings to the Smoky mountains during snow breaks. Spring Break concert choir tours were great too!
Know that I will always fondly remember the two of you. I thank God you found each other and served Him faithfully over 35 years together.

I am very saddened to hear about Tom. I will always remember Tom for his gentle and kind demeanor. He, like Barbara, had a great calling to give so much of themselves to others. Tom was a great listener and we appreciate that. Tom was often soft-spoken, but his sense of humor always kept us laughing and on our toes. I enjoyed many meals shared with Tom and Barbara at Watchung Borough and Wilson Memorial church functions. And I look up to Barbara and Tom for the great relationship they shared for decades. Tom will be sorely missed. Our hearts go out to Barbara and the entire Peters family. Love, Steve Pote and Family

I was so saddened to learn of the passing, Barbara, of your beloved Tom. My heart goes out to all your family. I just viewed the beautiful video pictures of you and your family and had tears in my eyes the whole time. What a wonderful life you had together as you devoted your lives together to others. Truly you have been a blessing to all of us who have come to know you so well. I have no doubt that Tom is with the Lord, Ron Miller, and all the other good people who have so carried the message of Jesus in their hearts. I so enjoyed the book review of Hill Billie Elegy by J.D. Vance at the book discussion you held a couple of years ago. Your takes on what he was revealing in this book were so meaningful. Also, I was surprised one time in the Stop 'n Shop when I ran into Tom holding an armful of Halloween candy bags at the after Halloween candy sale when he recognized me as being from Wilson Memorial. He smiled and said he was buying up his stash of favorite candy for the next year. Just the way he said it made me laugh out loud. He will be missed, Barb, by so many souls he has touched with a kind word. May the warmth of his love and caring for all of you be a great comfort to you now and until you meet him again in heaven. Fondly in Christ's love - Cathie Strohmeyer

Tom was such a wonderful person and a huge asset to The Masterwork Chorus. He always had a perfect joke at just the right time. He was one of the only singers who could ask a number of question and not upset the conductor! He always showed compassion for any member having problems in their life, and always had a smile for everyone, a warm genuine smile and true concern for us. He was such a big help to me when I had to preach a sermon on World Communion Sunday at my church. He often helped me with my church work as an Elder. We were the Presbyterians in perfect sync- we seemed to agree on everything! I will miss him so very much, it feels like we lost our heart at Masterwork. Condolences to Barbara and the family.

Barbara, Trevor, and Ali,
"Grief is the price of love" stands out to me so large in life. It sounds like your beautiful family has been blessed with an incredible amount of love. I have been lighting candles for Tom and all of you for many many months, as all of your lights have shone through even to me. I am a stranger to all, except your mom, who was such a wonderful support to me and my family when my own mom was ill. I have been so emotionally connected to your family journey with your Dad. There are no real words to ease your pain now, but sometimes knowing that people you don't even know are pulling for you and sending huge amounts of love and healing your way can mean something.
My very best to all of you.
In light and love,
Vicki Price-Pennino
