Dear Alysia & Mike,
We are so very, very sad to learn of the devastating loss of your son Bobby. Bobby was the life of the party, and so full of life himself! We fondly remember the boating outing on the Shark River in Neptune with all five of you in our little Boston Whaler when the boys were quite young. The tide was going out, we were between the two bridges spanning Avon and Belmar and got a little hung up on the sand bar. We were gently rocking the boat and using the oars to free ourselves. Once Bobby assessed the situation, he very astutely asked "what's going to happen to us?" We did get safely back to the dock and dry land! As we deboarded, we asked what the boys wanted to do next; Bobby saw our neighbors pool and said "let's go swimming"! From a very young age, Bobby always seemed to strive to make the most, and the best, of any situation. And it appears it was a hallmark he demonstrated throughout his short life. Although I don't have any photos from that occasion, I am sharing a couple from one of our Christmas parties where Bobby was the center of all the activity and fun, which is exactly how we will remember Bobby! With our deepest, heartfelt condolences, Pat & Don

Ryan and I are so incredibly sorry to hear of the passing of Bobby. I am so sorry Alysia that I did not know of his passing last month. I would have come to his services. I just watched the entire tribute video for Bobby. It was the most wonderful tribute. Bobby was truly an inspiration to so many. I know you and Mike are so incredibly proud of him. Please know I am praying for you and your family during this most difficult time. xoxoxo Donna Klass

Bobby was in several of my classes at Villanova. I remember a project he did where he spoke openly about his brain cancer and how it influenced him to go into counseling. He was always a man for others… Full of warmth, compassion, kindness sensitivity and humor (and that quiet twinkle in his eye!). I felt he really lived each day as a gift and that was reflected in all of his actions. I send you prayers, strength and peace during this time.
With kindness,
Lauren Sullivan

Ms. Sullivan,
Thank you so much for your message - Bobby loved life, lived it to the fullest - as he always told me - he chose to be happy each and every day - he did not want to be burdened with the small stuff. He loved his job, he had compassion for those that struggled and certainly adhered to the values that were emphasized at Villanova - compassion and kindness. Thank you again, Alysia (Bobby's mom)

Thank you so much for reaching out - Bobby loved what he did and showed so much respect and compassion for the drug addicts he treated - all expressed great disappointment when he said he would no longer be counseling - they had no idea he was dying...........he certainly used the qualities taught to him at Villanova. Thank you again

Dear Alysia, Mike, Michael, Amanda, Jon, Ann and Jack,
We feel blessed to have known Bobby all the way back to ICS. He always was a special kid.
He put up a tough fight and focused on helping others during his struggles.
Your efforts to raise money and awareness will help so many others. You created a legacy that will go on for years to come.
You made his last years as enjoyable as possible and you will all be grateful for that time spent together.
So grateful to have seen him at his Villanova Graduation celebrating his amazing milestone of earning his Masters Degree.
He is at peace now and will watch over you all.
I pray for your peace knowing that he has been called home.
Love always,
Kath and Tom Joyal

In Spanish class at Rutgers Prep, I particularly remember Bobby because he smiled so easily. He had a terrific personality and spirit. After his brain surgery, I remember bumping into him on campus and he said about his surgery, "It wasn't that bad... it was definitely weird" and we both burst out laughing. Clearly, a terrific spirit! Con paz, Bobby, siempre te vamos a recordar.

Alysia and Mike,
We are overwhelmed with sadness and share empathy to the parents upon learning about Bobby's passing. After receiving the Ferro Family Christmas letters for years, it was obvious that Alysia was extremely proud of her sons. It seemed to me that she was especially proud of Bobby, as he accomplished so much in spite of the brain cancer. We share your grief in losing Bobby at such a young age and will keep his legacy alive.

Bobby was only 10 or so when I left JnJ. I loved the stories Alysia would tell about “her boys” often causing tears to run down my cheek from laughter. Years passed and sadly Bobby’s battle with cancer began. I kept him in my prayers always as well as his very strong and loving family. Then I heard he was doing wonderful things with his life in spite of his trials and tribulations. And now he takes his goodness with him to a very special place. I am so sorry for your tremendous loss. I pray you are blessed with continued strength. May Bobby’s legacy carry on.

If my son Cody grows up to be as good a man as Bobby, I will feel that I’ve done something right as a parent. Bobby had the kindest heart, a gentle soul, and laughter that makes anyone’s problems dissolve away as you can’t help but laugh with him. He always put family first. I wish the world were filled with more people like Bobby. I’ll miss you, my cousin!!
