My best friend in childhood. the birthday and sleepover parties including seances. trying to fit in. the countless fishing trips. you practicing your nunchucks on me until i was covered in bruises. figuring out puberty. baffled by getting real phone numbers of girls we met at Great Adventure and not knowing what do to next.
anxious about what happens after high school. trying to teach me chess. having to taste the new recipe (which sometimes took a lot of courage). philosophising till deep in the night. driving around aimlessly. developing into men and shouldering the responsibility that comes with that. we've drifted apart over the years, but believe you me you will always be a part of me.
I will never meet anyone as selfless as you. you taught me how to be kind. you persisted and overcame the stones that life put in your path. i pictured us on the porch as old men waxing about the good old days. don't worry Eric, we will still do that.

You were the kindest, most generous person I will ever know. You will always be my brother and my best friend. My life is so much better, richer for having you by my side for so many years. You were my partner in crime and the angel on my shoulder. Eric, you were always there when it mattered. You will not be forgotten. We are poorer on Earth for having lost you, but heaven is so much richer having you. Rest my friend, I will see you again.
