Obituary of Mary C. Trapasso

Mary Cummiskey Trapasso went to be with her Lord on December 31, 2021 at the age of 89 in Bridgewater, N.J.

She is survived by her 5 children, Lois A. Trapasso, Michael T. Trapasso and his spouse Staci, Marc A. Trapasso and his spouse Dawn Beechner, Lise M. (Trapasso) Barrick and her fiancé Timothy A. Cresswell, and Matthew F. Trapasso. She was also the proud grandmother of  4 grandchildren, Conner, Kyle, Lindsey and Alexis.

A pioneering woman for her generation, Mary was a 1954 graduate of the College of Mount Saint Vincent and a 1956 graduate of the University of Maryland where she earned her Master’s degree in Chemistry. Mary went on to work for the Centers for Disease Control and then progressed to an Associate Professor position at Union College in Union, N.J. In her late 40’s, Mary made a drastic career change and co-founded R. Seelaus & Co., an investment  firm originally located in Summit, N.J.,  where she retired from at the age of 75. Mary spent her retirement years in The Hills at Bedminster, N.J. spoiling her grandchildren, spending  time with  her adopted dogs Cheyenne and then Boomer, and enjoying her friends playing bridge, and attending Zumba and yoga classes. 

Mary was preceded in death by her Father, Frank, Mother Julia (Carroll) Cummiskey, brother, Frank, and sister, Margaret.

Friends and family are invited to attend Mary’s viewing which will be held at Higgins Home for Funerals in Watchung, N.J. on Friday, January 7th from 5:00PM-8:00PM. A graveside ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 8th at 10:00AM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
