I distinctly remember meeting Val as a young child when he came to visit his niece, Cavell Francis (his deceased brother's child). From that very first day, he invited me to become a member of the family. I will be forever grateful for the kindness he showed to me and for the pride he had in my accomplishments and that of my sister, Cavell. I will always remember him as a family man. On behalf of my husband and I, condolences to Joan, his children, siblings and the rest of the family.

Joan in his last days he was disobedience. You told him not to leave but he left anyway leaving a large hole in ours and your heart. We have lost him but God has given him wings to go with that infectious smile. Along with you we will miss him.

Linval aka Val was my neighbor from Hampstead, we attended the same church as kids, my Grandmother was his (midwife) so he was like a big brother to me. The last time I saw him was at his brother's funeral in Brooklyn. Although it was a sad occasion we had some good laughs remembering old times day. You will be missed but your memories lives on

Our Condolences to the family of Linval Francis. He will be missed! Linval and I attended the same New Jersey University in the 80's. During that time, we didn't know each other. Fast forward 40 years later we both ended up in PA, living in the same neighborhood, on the same street and purchasing the same model home. When I was struggling with Do It Yourself (DIY) home projects, Linval would not hesitate to share his wisdom and knowledge. He would show me the most efficent and effective way to get the job done saving me tons of money. What a wonderful, caring and fun loving guy with a smile that lit up a room. Our thoughts and prays are with his family during this difficult time.

Linval, Ritchie…the ultimate optimist!
The strength he displayed against the odds was remarkable but not surprising. He was always like that, even in high school. When the going got tough he knew how to draw on his inner strength and get the job done. Very few of us have such intestinal fortitude…but there comes a time when the battle is too fierce and the wounds too great and so the Almighty, the Prince of Peace steps in to embrace us and gather us unto Him. Ritchie, rest in peace, my friend. You will always be in our hearts, for the memories we shared, the times we laughed, cried, and fought, the times we listened to your scientific explanations without knowing what you were talking about… great memories! Condolences to the family and may you be comforted knowing that he is at peace.
You will always be with us.

Words can't express how saddened I am to hear about your loss. Linval was light and he brought so much joy to all of us who had the fortune to work with him. He would bring me leftover ribs from his family's BBQs - he was thoughtful and caring in that way. Know that he will always be remembered fondly.
