I am very sad to hear of Thelma's passing. She was very close to my parents Eleanor and Mondel Morril until their passing in 2007-08. They admired her art work, and had one of her paintings, as well as her ability as a seamstress. I remember very nice visits with her at her home in NJ. My condolences and best wishes to the family, with love from Mark Morril

Thelma has been my dear friend since 1944. We had met while we worked at Westinghouse in Newark. We were so close while we grew older and got married. In later years, we met for lunch, Thelma loved The Olive Garden, and we visited each other many times. I have so many beautiful and fun memories with Thelma. We went to Belmar, Bradley Beach, and Asbury Park as young girls. We lost touch a few years ago, as I tried to reach her on her birthday. We always called each other on our birthdays. Rest in peace, my dear friend. My deepest condolences to The Ottenstein family. With love from Rose Guarino

I will miss my visits with Thelma. In nice weather we would sit either on the front porch or the back deck. She, like Bernie and her Mother, had so much wisdom. In nice weather she would walk me to the car and told me to come again, anytime. Don't stay away. She made Mom and me pouches to put on the outside of our mattresses for tissues. She made them out of Martha Stewart placemats. She was so clever. I still use mine. She made me a coat and lots of baby bibs for baby presents. We shared a lot of happy parties at her house and have lots of happy memories. She loved her home and her landscaping. She loved her family and everybody. The children at her school made her homemade birthday cards with such sweet sayings.

My Mother-in-law meant the world to me. She was always helping me when I couldn’t find the right way to do something.
She was more of a mother to me.
I loved her dearly and no one will ever take her place.
Mom may you rest in eternal peace. Thanks for the many years we were together.
R. I. P. Mom.

Condolences to the Ottenstein family. Aunt Thelma meant so much to my mom. She was so kind to gift me her sewing machine and gave me a deep appreciation and admiration for sewing. May she rest in peace.

Aunt Thelma was part of my life since the very beginning, as I see she is even listed in my baby book of first visitors. She was my mother's dearest friend in the Ottenstein family, along with aunt Lena, they were a threesome, not just a sister-in-laws. Aunt Thelma worked with my mother on designing and sewing my wedding gown. They both were excellent seamstresses and shared that love. Aunt Thelma hosted my wedding wedding shower in her home in Springfield and made it very special. She actually journeyed to Texas to visit me and my family to attend the Bar Mitzvah of my son, Daniel who she adored. We had a wonderful time that won't be forgotten. Always generous with her time and talent she gifted me a complete seder setting in gorgeous porcelain and gold. It will be cherished for generations. She spent many hours together with my mother and long conversations on the phone. I spoke to her weekly as well since coming to Texas. She she kept me up on all the news of the family and her health, etc. She was frustrated by the tragic glaucoma she suffered, keeping her from the sewing and art projects she loved. I admired her greatly for her volunteering at the school where she was loved by all. When she got her new computerized sewing machine, she gifted her old one to my daughter, Victoria who took lessons and made Aunt Thelma a tote bag as her first project. Of late, I missed our conversations as I realized her memory was failing and it became more difficult to speak regularly the way we always did. I missed our sharing and laughter. We always could laugh recalling silly stories. Aunt Thelma was also wise and deep and replaced my mother with her shoulder to cry on and compassion when trouble struck, as in life's ups and downs is inevitable. I will miss all these things about Aunt Thelma. My condolences to the rest of the family on this sad day. She was a big part of my life in all its stages and will be remembered with so much love. Her life and memory is for a blessing, Harriet (cousin Hattie) Ottenstein
