Sally
Saddened to read this today. Having the privilege of working with Ed (and you) so many years ago will never be forgotten.
I adopted a whole new way to look at holidays from watching how Ed prepared for all of them. He invited my young family to dinner one night in his home in Plainfield near Christmas and my two year old son Bryce got the full “Ed Schmidt” Christmas experience!
He was a hard act to follow and he will live in my memories always.
My condolences are with you.

My deepest sympathy Sallyann. Uncle Ed was blessed to have you. He often said thank goodness for Sally. You two got a chance to travel together and he enjoyed those trips so much.
i will always remember the long walks with his beloved collie Lassie.
The “Schmidt’s Candy” store in Woodhaven where chocolates are the best.
Bowling wherever an alley could be found. Uncle Ed’s love for trains. Alex, my brother, and I were taken many times on the NYC subway for one more ride. Bell Labs at Christmas time.
Get togethers at Pop Schmidt’s with brothers Thomas, Gerard, John and families.
The many trips made from South Plainfield to Hagerstown and back again for holidays, vacations and everything in between.
These are some of the memories everlasting. Uncle Ed’s many kindnesses, support and helping anyone in need throughout his life will always be remembered.
