Obituary of Barry Coriell

Barry J. Coriell, age 62, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Martinsville, New Jersey. He was born in Morristown and grew up in Millington before settling down in Martinsville, where he lived for over three decades.

Barry was an accomplished man who achieved a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and earned his CPA license. He began his business career as a young man in the family business, Central Moving Systems, in Bridgewater, NJ. He held executive positions in various transportation, construction, and consulting firms in New York City and New Jersey.

While Barry attended Watchung Hills High School, he excelled in sports. A yearly three-sport athlete, he was busy every season with golf or baseball, basketball, and especially football. He achieved All-State Group 4 First Team, All-Star Team, and All-County his senior year. He loved being on the field with his teammates and made many amazing plays.

Aside from his professional pursuits, Barry had many hobbies that he enjoyed throughout his life. He was an avid golfer who relished spending time on the green with his closest friends. One of his greatest achievements was scoring a hole-in-one at the local country club in Watchung. When his children were younger, he was passionate about supporting their soccer and swim teams and always encouraged them to do their best. In his free time, he volunteered for Somerset County YMCA and was an esteemed board member of the MS Society for 20 years.

Barry's kind and compassionate nature will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, Connie, and his three cherished daughters: Blythe Armstrong and her husband James, Georgia Coriell, and Meryl Coriell. He is also survived by his mother, Kathleen Coriell, and his two brothers: Bruce Coriell and his wife Eleanor, and Brian Coriell and his wife Carol; his nieces and nephews and their families: Alyssa and Bubba Schulz, Rick and Colleen Coriell, David and Kelsey Coriell, Michelle Coriell; and his great nieces: Emma, Izzy, Cece, Ada, and Violet.

Barry is preceded in death by his father, Richard Coriell.
