The Collister Johnson family considered Edna Copper to be a dearly loved part of our family. Edna came to work with us in Far Hills, NJ in 1956, when the Johnson children Lee, Terry, and Sheila, were 8, 10, and 13, respectively. We grew up with Edna as our housekeeper as teenagers, young adults, and then older Baby Boomers, until our Father passed in 2017. We were especially grateful that Edna was able to care for our parents as they grew older and declined in health.
Edna was a very private person and maintained a room off of our kitchen that no one dared tenter. Even though Martha's Vineyard was not her favorite place, she gamely joined the family there every summer and developed a circle of friends in Oak Bluffs.
Edna was a very accomplished cook, and a few of her dishes were legendary Her lemon soufflé was light as air and delicious beyond words.
None of the Johnson children ever actually called Edna "Edna". She was always "Sweets", and she always will be Sweets.
God bless you Sweets. May you forever be at peace. Our family mourns your loss as one of our own and will keep you always in our hearts.

Uncle Terry, as one of the many grandchildren who Edna practically raised, we are deeply saddened by "Sweets" passing. Her recipes were legendary, her discipline notorious. Edna was a brave and gallant soul whose personality and devotion echoed throughout the Johnson family. She was and will always be a "Johnson." God bless you, "Sweets" I hope you are at peace. We love you and will miss you dearly.
