Susan Leidner

Obituary of Susan Leidner

Susan Leidner, 59, passed peacefully into eternal rest on September 2, 2023, at Morristown Medical Center. Born in Oceanside, NY, she proudly called Basking Ridge, NJ, her home.

An alumna of the College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, Susan pursued a degree in theology. After years of corporate work, she began her heartfelt journey as a teacher's aide for the Franklin Public School system seven years ago. Her work predominantly focused on special needs children, offering one-on-one support, which she deeply cherished as her true calling.

A devoted member of Our Lady of the Mount R.C. Church in Warren, NJ, Susan's faith was integral to her life. She volunteered as a CCD teacher and co-led confirmation classes. Her role as a eucharistic minister was one she held close, often delivering communion to those unable to attend services.

Adventure held a special place in Susan's heart, with memorable travels spanning the USA, Europe, and Australia. Equally fond of her trips to Florida, she cherished the moments with her extended family. Susan's life was infused with laughter, her infectious sense of humor and light-hearted nature being her trademarks. Susan had the ability to collect friends wherever she went, and to her, the family were friends, and friends were family, and not everyone can say that. Nothing was more important to her than family and friends, but among all her joys, being an aunt stood out. Every moment with her nieces and nephews was a treasure, a testament to her priorities: Family, Friends, and Faith.

She joins her beloved mother, Patricia A. Leidner, Grandmother, as well as many Aunts and Uncles in eternal rest.

Left to cherish her memories are her father, Robert A. Leidner; siblings, Eileen MacKenzie (John), Anton “Tony” Leidner, Patricia “Patty” Leidner, and Robert Leidner (Linda); and nine cherished nieces and nephews: Jason, Sarah, Erin, Anna, Amy, Anton, David, Philip, and Emily. An extended family and a circle of dear friends also remember her fondly.
