In Loving Memory of Beatrice “Joyce” LoBiondo
Beatrice “Joyce” LoBiondo, age 83, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023, at RWJ Hospital in Somerset, NJ. She was born in Newark, NJ to John and Olive Callahan and graduated from East Side High School. She was a longtime resident of Maplewood, NJ, before moving to the Bridgewater area 19 years ago.
Joyce worked at Tuscan Elementary School in Maplewood for many years as the Lunchroom Supervisor and After School Program Director. She was fondly remembered at her retirement for her dedication to the children she looked after. Joyce was active in the Maplewood community as a member of the Jaycees, president of the Maplewood chapter of UNICO, and PTA president at Tuscan Elementary.
Joyce's family life was rich with love and traditions, including annual family trips to Wildwood, NJ at the Pan American Hotel, where she created lifelong friendships.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Albert J. LoBiondo, Sr.
She is survived by her three children Albert J. LoBiondo, Jr. (Svetlana Papashina), JoyLynn Butch (Darell), and Patricia Manna (Glen). She will be remembered as a doting “Granny” by her five adoring grandchildren Nicholas, Kathleen, Amanda, Allison, and Gavin, and the special place she held in her heart for Alisa and Gene Papashina, and her goddaughter, Cheryl Trapani.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, from 10 AM to 12 PM at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A 12 PM funeral service will follow at the funeral home. A private interment service will be held at a later date.
