Obituary of Thomas E. Headley
Thomas E. Headley, 62, of Warren, New Jersey, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Morristown Hospital. Born on January 18, 1962, in Plainfield, New Jersey, he was the beloved son of Edward Nelson, Jr. and Gladys Mae Fox Headley.
Thomas spent his early childhood in the Arbor Town section of Piscataway before moving to Warren, New Jersey, where he remained for the rest of his life. He attended Watchung Hills Regional High School, where his entrepreneurial spirit began. Following his passion for business, Thomas founded his own landscaping and excavating company. Through his dedication and hard work, he took this dream of his and grew it into a highly successful enterprise. His company boasted over 20 specialized excavating machines, a testament to his determination and skill.
In his youth, Thomas enjoyed attending First Park Baptist Church in Plainfield, New Jersey, and visiting Manasquan Beach with his family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with friends, offshore fishing adventures, and traveling with his family. Tom’s love for road trips exemplified his adventurous spirit. Memorable trips included visits along the Blue Ridge Parkway, culminating at the Mile High Swinging Bridge, drives to Nashville to enjoy the bluegrass tunes at the Grand Ole Opry, and heading down south to Alabama to attend a college football game.
Thomas was an avid reader, with a particular fondness for John Grisham novels. He was also a true foodie, relishing dining out at fine restaurants and showcasing his culinary talents at home. Tom loved nothing more than bringing those he loved around him together for a good meal. His love for good food was complemented by his appreciation for fine wine, making him a connoisseur in the truest sense.
Tom was more than just a friend he was a devoted partner to his girlfriend Theresa. Their bond was a source of strength and happiness. He is also cherished by his three honorary daughters, Jamie, Madison, and Nikkolette.
Tom is survived by his nieces Melissa, Jelissa, Kimberly, and Kallie, his Aunt Barbara Fox Krasucki, as well as his godchildren Ashley, Donald, and Lauren.
Thomas was predeceased by his parents, Gladys Mae Fox Headley in 1990, Edward Nelson Headley, Jr. in 2000, and his sister, Bette Jane Headley, in 1998.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, from 4 to 8 PM, with a service beginning at 7 PM, at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a charity close to Thomas's heart.
Thomas will be remembered as a man of great entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for bringing his family and friends together, and a person who was known for his kindness and generosity. His legacy of hard work, love for his family, and joy for life will be cherished by all who knew him.
