Mrs. Ellen T. Saverino, a beloved figure known for her selflessness and dedication to family, passed away peacefully at her home in Warren on Friday, August 23, 2024. Born in Newark, New Jersey, on July 25, 1947, Ellen grew up between Newark and Elizabeth, later raising her family in Mendham and Chester. Later, with her husband, they moved to London and then New York City before settling Warren in ten years ago,
A devout Catholic, Ellen was a former member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Mendham and frequently attended St. Mary's Stony Hill Roman Catholic Church in Watchung. She lived a vibrant and athletic life, enjoying tennis and various athletic pursuits.
Ellen's inherent selflessness was evident in all aspects of her life. She was always thinking of others, often returning from errands with thoughtful gifts for her loved ones. Her family was her world, especially her three cherished grandchildren, whose lives she enriched profoundly. Ellen never missed an opportunity to support them, whether at softball tournaments, musical theater performances or soccer games. She lived her life to make others happy, especially her children and grandchild never missing a significant moment or an opportunity to provide help when needed. Known to Al and John as a mom who would do anything for their happiness, she never stopped sharing all of her love, support, kindness and care. Known to her grandchild as the best grandma in the world who provided so much love and joy to the lives. Family was of upmost importance, and she always made sure everyone felt loved, welcomed and important.
Remembered as a consummate host, Ellen ensured every detail was perfect for her guests, a reflection of her generous and loving nature. Her culinary skills were a source of joy for those around her, further highlighting her nurturing character.
Ellen was predeceased by her loving husband, John C. Saverino, who passed away in 2018. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, survived by her two sons, Alfonso and his wife Brittany, and John; three grandchildren, Alisa, John, and Dominic; and her brother, Louis Erickson.
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, August 30, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, New Jersey. A memorial mass is scheduled for Saturday, August 31, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Stony Hill Church.
Ellen's life was a beacon of selflessness and caring, deeply touching all who knew her. Her memory will forever be cherished and celebrated.
