Obituary of Norman C. Patterson
Norman Patterson, age 85, died peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2014 at his home in Warren surrounded by his family and friends. He was born and raised in Elmira, NY and had lived in Fanwood before moving to Warren for over 50 years.
Mr. Patterson served in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller during the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement, he was a Sales Rep. for Hardinge Brothers, Inc. in Elmira and NSK Industries.During his retirement, he was employed at Higgins Home for Funerals.
Mr. Patterson was an active member of Wilson Memorial Union Church, Watchung Hills Elks Lodge # 2252, the American Legion Post 293 and the Warren Township Volunteer Rescue Squad. He also coached high school women's volleyball.
He enjoyed making trips to the Philadelphia Race Track and was very active playing softball and volleyball.
He is predeceased by his wife, Joan Patterson in 1993 and his brothers, Ian Patterson and Thomas Patterson.
Surviving are his son, Scott Patterson and his wife, Cheryl of Sterling, PA; his daughter, Kim DeVizio and her husband, James of Warren; his granddaughter, Melissa Denning and her husband, Shawn and his niece Karen and nephews, Paul and Matthew. He is also survived by his extended family and loving friends.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 28th at 12:30 p.m. service at Wilson Memorial Union Church. Cremation is private. Visitation will be on Saturday, December 27th from 4 to 7 p.m.at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung.
