The Sanecki Family posted a condolence

We have known all of you for virtually all our lives and for that we feel so fortunate. We have enriched each other’s lives with so much love and laughter. Losing Uncle Bill is so hard – it almost seems unreal. It is almost impossible to believe that he will not be sitting at the head of our table this Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. How can it be that we will not be making our annual trip to Atlantic City this Good Friday for our “religious retreat” around the craps table?
This loss is so difficult to comprehend and accept because Uncle Bill was such an incredible personality – so strong and yet so gentle and loving. Our time together ended too soon, but any ending to our time together would be too soon. We look forward, with a little sadness, to our holidays with Aunt Gail, Lori, Lisa, Amy, Mark, and Hayley - sharing stories of holidays past, remembering all the laughs and the love we shared, and making new memories for the years to come.
Each of us is a culmination of the events we have experienced and the people we have met. The traits and things that we admired most in Uncle Bill and the way he made us feel now make us sad, for they will be missed. Hopefully, after some time passes, that sad feeling will turn into a warm remembrance. In some small way we will try to duplicate those same traits and pass on those same feelings to those we care for. We are all better people for having known Uncle Bill and for that we will always be thankful.

The reality, that the man that I thought was immortal, had passed away, crushed my heart. I was in Mr. Schmeisser's class my 8th grade year in Warren Middle School. He touched so many lives through heart and education. No one could ever replace him. When I went to High School, my chorus class would visit WMS and sing songs. All four years, I would break away from the group to run over and give him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. I would receive the brightest smile and the warmest greeting anyone could ever ask for. I am in college now and I could not go to the wake, but I figured this would be the best I could do, to give my respects. I will miss Mr. Schmeisser. His impact on my life was so great. I only wish he realized how much he was and is loved. Mr. Schmeisser will always be in my thoughts, my heart, and my prayers.

Mr. Schmeisser was a man of huge personality and heart. He was absolutley one of the best teachers I have ever had,
responsible for my neverending interest in
history. He introduced me to world history and politics with a passion that I shall always remember and that he renewed year after year.
I will never forget his enthusiasm for sports, especially softball
helping to organize the annual student faculty
gameat Central School in Warren, where I had him for 7th grade history. But it was in the classroom that his star shined at it's brightest! Thank you Mr. Schmiesser for being the teacher that you were, are and will always be.

Dear Gail, Lori, Lisa and Amy
There is probably nothing I can tell you that you don't already know about what a great man your husband and father was. William Schmeisser was my seventh grade history teacher at Central School in 1961. I was never a great student and there were not too many classes that I was able to appreciate back then. Mr. Schmeisser's class was one of the few. I think that is largely because of what I can only describe as his own personal karisma. A few years ago I heard that he was still teaching in the Warren school system, which at first was surprising since people these days seldom stay at the same job for that long. Then I thought no, I'm not surprised. Mr. Schmeisser is there because he is a dedicated now as he seemed to be then. I had to stop by and see him and I was struck by how little he seemed to have changed over the past 40 years. I'm not sure if he really remembered me but thats ok, he must have had thousands of students during his long and wonderful career as a teacher. I will always remember him fondly as one of those who helped guide me through my youth, and I know he has meant the same to many others.
Best Regards,
Garrett Moore

Mr. Schmeisser was my 8th grade history teacher in 1966-1967. I have never forgotten him. He really motivated me to want to enjoy and learn about history. Outside of our class, he was such a genuine warm human-being. I used to enjoy seeing him at football games at Watchung Hills High School. He holds a special place in my heart when I think of my school days. He was just such a nice man.
I am sorry for your loss.

Mr. Schmeisser has touched a countless number of lives and has enriched a countless number of minds. Not only was he my favorite teacher, but also he was one of my favorite people because of the boundless love that he had for everyone, and I will never fail to remember the brilliant times that my classmates and I have shared with him. He will be incredibly missed by everyone, even those that didn’t have the privilege of having him as a teacher. I love him so much, and wanted to send my condolences to his family.

"Lin-coln, Doug-las, Breck-in-ridge, and Bell." I remember Mr. Schmeisser counting off the four candidates for U.S. President in 1860 in a measured cadence he told us we would never forget. While there is much about U.S. history I have since forgotten, he was right -- I never have forgotten those four candidates and the helpful little refrain he gave us for recalling their names in our heads. I'm still hoping for a Trivial Pursuit question to draw them out and impress my friends one of these days.
It is with a smile and great fondness that I recall that simple fact of history and the good-humored, good-natured instructor who taught it to me.
Mr. Schmeisser, you made history fun to learn, and I appreciated your thoughtful mentorship immensely. You were a gem among the Watchung Hills faculty who left a positive and indelible mark on me and my classmates. I offer my sincere condolences to your family and friends. You will be sadly missed, yet I will always appreciate the knowledge you taught us and direction you gave us as your students.

Our hearts go out to the family of William
Schmeisser at this time of his
passing. Two of our daughters,
Dawn and Sheila, were inspired
by him as their history teacher.
Both started a love for history
as a result of his influence.
The Warren Middle School will
never be the same without his
presence.

I was so sorry to read of the passing of William Schmeisser. I have wonderful memories of "Billy" from our days growing up in Bloomfield; especially at Brookdale School. It's funny, the things you remember after such a long time - I can remember walking home with Billy at lunch time one day to share his mother's famous chicken soup, while he lugged his cello the whole way ( I think it was a cello -it was certainly big and heavy ). Billy and I ran into each other again at a BHS reunion -it was the last time we talked -I will remember him fondly and I extend my deepest sympathy to his entire family-Joan Valkys
