Obituary of George R. Strub
George R. Strub, age 91, Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Jersey City, he lived in Plainfield for most of his life before moving to Watchung in 1960.
Mr. Strub received his BA from Clark University in Massachusetts and his MA from Rutgers University. He worked as an English Teacher for the Plainfield School District and retired as head of the department. As the first in his family to graduate from college, he devoted his life to teaching and stressed the importance of education to each of his students.
Mr. Strub was a lifelong member of Trinity Reformed Church in North Plainfield and attended bible class reunions until his death. He was a very religious man and known for his generosity. He loved trains, trolley cars and spending time with his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his brother, Maxson Strub. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Nancy Strub of Gladstone; his niece, Suzanne Falbo of Basking Ridge; two cousins, Philip Strub of Basking Ridge and Donald Strub of Denville; and one grandniece, Melissa Falbo of Basking Ridge.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 13th at 11:30 am at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung, NJ 07069. Donations may be made in his honor to Plainfield High School Library, 950 Park died on Wednesday, December 03, 2003 at Avenue, Plainfield, NJ 07060.
