When I discovered the meaning and description of Elaine's name I came to realize that her parents found a name that truly embellished the traits of the person Elaine came to be. I thought I would share the meaning of Elaine with you.
Elaine is described as an attractive blonde--a smart, business-minded trendsetter who is not only friendly but also a good friend.
The name Elaine means 'light'. Light has many meanings and applications. One meaning of light is the knowledge gained by the act of studying. One application of light is the imparting of that same knowledge.
Elaine is usually a good teacher, using stories and illustrations to make ideas more clear while trying to help someone understand a difficult concept. While Elaine does not always have a sunny disposition she often uses humor to help ease tense moments. God uses her to bring light to sometimes dark and dreary situations. She finds that others come to her, not only for advice, but also for help in understanding the whys and where fore’s of their lives.
There are times when it is hard for Elaine to let her light shine, as is for all of us at times. But the Light of the Word gives her the needed light by which to walk. And as she walks in this Light, she is able to be a light for others as well as for her own self.
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men.
My friendship with Elaine goes beyond words. Her beauty undeniably showed from inside, as well as outside and her intelligence was clear to all who knew her.
The special bond we shared will forever be cherished. Elaine was truly an inspiration, admired for her undoubtedly strong will, courage, guidance, and compassion. She touched and lit up so many lives in her short life and her memory will forever shine brightly in many hearts and minds. I am comforted by believing she is at peace, laughing her special laugh, shining brightly as that ray of 'light' and basking in the other rays of light in Heaven, reunited with all those she had previously lost and loved so dearly while here on earth. May she rest in peace. God Bless you my dear friend.
Andy,
My deepest condolences on your loss. May you find comfort in knowing that Elaine is at peace. May Elaine's memory light up your every day.

Andy,
My deepest and most heartfelt condolences my freind for your great loss. Elaine was (and still is in our hearts and minds) a wonderful, loving, influential human being who must have positively touched many lives, and set a great example for all who knew her. I am truly privileged to have been there the night you actually met her on a 'blind date', when we all attended a concert way back when.
May you honor her memory each and every living moment here on Earth in everything you do, and may you find the inner strength to carry on her legacy and her 'life lessons'! She wouldn't want it any other way.
Andy, we'll keep in touch, and please don't hesitate to call me anytime.

Andy,
There are no words to express how sad and sorry I am to have heard about Elaine. It seems like just yesterday that Kelly and I set you two up. Although Richie (boyfriend) didn't know her, he works with Bob Sushko and has heard from us both how wonderful she was. My heart and soul go out to you and please if you need something never hesitate to ask. My heart goes out to her entire family and friends--Elaine was a great, great person. I'll miss her dearly.
Love,
Carol Ayres & Richard Shapiro

Elaine gave so much of herself to others - to her coworkers, her friends and no doubt to her loved ones. I am indeed priveleged to have known her even for just a short time. She taught me that immense courage, strength and grace can reside under a radiant smile and quiet dignity. Her memory will live on in our hearts.

Elaine was my best friend whom I loved with all of my heart and soul. I will cherish each and every wonderful memory I have of my time spent with Elaine over the last 27 years. I am very fortunate to have known Elaine and words cannot describe how much I will miss her. I know that Jesus Christ welcolmed her with open arms because she lived her life putting others before herself. She is now with her mother and father and as I always told Elaine, I believe that one day we will all be reunited togther in Heaven. With this in mind, I have peace.

Dear Family,
I had the pleasure of working with Elaine while at Schering Plough. We both worked together in the CMC Technical Regulatory Group for about 3 years. Elaine was, no is, the nicest woman I have ever met. Although I didn't know her for a long time, she left and ever-lasting impression upon me. My deepest sympathies to all of you.
